Almeria
The beautiful coast of variety, where the old and new blend together to give something for everybody – from natural parks to barren hillsides, the diversity of the scenery and wildlife are simply breathtaking.
For tourists, the campsites, hotels and accommodations are plentiful, and for those who enjoy history – Almeria is steeped in castles, towers and other places of interest. Good examples being the “Velez Rubio” and the Cathedral of Almeria – as these buildings are simply stunning
Almeria is also famous for its soup “sopa de Almeria”. Fish is the main diet here, and favourites tend to be red mullet and squid, but there is a wide variety of dishes from tapas to maize tortas, which is best enjoyed with a local wine to wash it down (such as Fondon Laujar Berja or Alboloduy).
Almeria is a friendly place with a lot to offer the historian, water sports fanatic, nature lovers – or the individual who just wants to sit back and relax.
Roquetas de Mar is a luxury paradise on the Mediterranean coast with one of the best equipped open air sports centres and three main tourist complexes – Playa Serena, Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce.
Boasting over 2km of broad fine sands – this is the ideal haven for the beach lover and water sports fanatic, there is also a beautiful 18 hole golf course for those who prefer the slower pace in life.
Roquetas has one of the finest urbanisations on the entire Almeria coast, and is only 2km from the village of Roquetas.
Fish is caught fresh every day, so a good variety is on offer in the local restaurants, and shops each day.
If history is what you are looking for – Roquetas has plenty to offer. The castle of Santa Ana is a prime example – as some of the history in Roquetas dates back to Prehistoric through Roman times with settlements known along the coastline.
